Richard Page (Mr. Mister) - Goin’ South (2015) FLAC (tracks)
Artist: Richard Page | Album: Goin’ South | Released: 2015 | Label: Little Dume | Genre: Rock, AOR, Westcoast

RICHARD PAGE, one of the most awesome musicians in AOR History (and contemporary music overall) has just released a new album; “Goin’ South”.
Since his wonderful and influential band Pages to Platinum sellers Mr. Mister, Richard Page has been synonymous of quality.
Virtually, Page has been involved in one way or another in all major AOR related recordings during the ’80s / ’90s. Just pick one from your collection and check the credits; REO Speedwagon, Kenny Loggins, I-Ten, Sammy Hagar, Marc Jordan, Rick Springfield, Eddie Money, Richard Marx. The list is endless.
And he continues being heavily in demand by every artist dedicated to elegant sounds to provide vocals, arrangements or songwriting.
Since the mid-Nineties, Richard started a solo career as well.
After the exquisite ‘Peculiar Life’ some years ago (presented on this blog), “Goin’ South” is the first release from Richard featuring fresh material.
For this new collection of songs, Page has recruited the best of the best; ‘I am the AOR six-string man’ Tim Pierce, super-talented Gregg Bissonette on drums, superb keyboardist Kim Bullard, and the experienced Doug Livingston.
All respected session musicians in the world want to play for Page, but he picks the best which better suit his music.
The resulting album — mixed by the brilliant Frank Rosato (Jimmy Barnes, Eddie Money, West Coast All-Stars) — sounds as taut and vibrant as you’d expect from the collective chops and experience of this crew.
The music in “Goin’ South” is pretty much in the vein of his previous offering; ranging from the brightness of “Turn Out the Light”, the elegant mid-tempo “Two Roads and Four Headlights”, the slightly Mr. Mister-like “Everybody’s Hometown”, to more rocking numbers such as “This Side of the Soil”.
The style of Richard, as many of his contemporaries, is impregnated by a Nashville feel like on the juicy “Southern Wind” or “Me and My Guitar”, while one of Page’s trademark signature – the ballads – are represented by “Diamonds” and the subtle “Heaven Is Right Now”.
Richard Page 2015 is far from the ’80s bombastic sound, but talented cats never lose the grip.
“Goin’ South” is rich in intimate melodies, offering lots of great songs with variety of styles and tempo. Who cares about genres when you have such talented musicians.
This is Top Class music, pure, clever, charming and haunting.
Delicious.
